Careers in Music Production

Jeff Fenster

A & R Coordinator:

A record label's A&R coordinator hires new artists and scouts for new talent in the business. A&R coordinators look into artists' bodies of work to see if they'd fit in with the record label they work for.

To help enhance the success of their recording studio and grow a customer base, A&R coordinators might recruit musical specialists in various fields, such as recording artists, musicians, and music producers.

Audio Visual Technician:

An audio-visual technician is in charge of sound and video equipment. Audio-visual professionals may collaborate with musicians on music videos or other music projects that include video elements.

Audio-visual technicians can operate sound equipment such as microphones and looping pedals and video equipment such as cameras and lighting.

Music Editor:

Music is edited and added to film projects by a music editor who works in the film industry. Editing audio files, mixing songs, and synchronizing music to films so that it plays at certain moments are all examples of this.

A music editor might collaborate with a film's soundtrack composer to ensure that their music is used in the way they want it to be heard. In addition, music editors and film directors can work together to finish the musical aspects of a film and decide where songs should be placed in terms of scene and story.

Radio Promotion Manager:

A radio marketing manager assists musicians in locating radio stations that will play their music. This usually entails finding radio stations interested in playing an artist's music and marketing their musicians to stations that are unfamiliar with them.

Radio promotion managers might work for recording studios or record labels, and they can represent any of the musicians for whom they produce music.

Tour Publicist:

A tour publicist organizes promotional activities for a musician's upcoming tours. For example, they may arrange media interviews, performance reviews, or concert reviews, which generate visibility and publicity for the musicians they represent.
